UzbekAlive – The Finest Ikat Fabrics from Uzbekistan
UzbekAlive was created by a small group of enthusiasts as a channel for promoting the work of Uzbek artisans and sharing the beauty of authentic Ikat fabrics with the world. After several years of contemplation, in 2002 we finally put our efforts together and launched this website.
Every great success story starts with a garage and an idea. Ours was no exception. Through years of running UzbekAlive, we learned that we have something truly unique and beautiful to offer. Today, we are known as a destination for authentic Ikat fabric, handcrafted home décor, and traditional Uzbek textiles. It humbles us to know that dresses made from our Ikat fabrics have been worn at Nobel Prize ceremonies, while our Ikat pillows and pillow covers decorate beautiful homes around the world. We also take pride in creating custom jewelry boxes for unforgettable wedding gifts and engagement ring presentations. Our silk scarves, crafted alongside our famous Ikat Cotton textiles, are worn by style-conscious women from Tokyo to New York.
Everything in this fabric shop was made in Uzbekistan with a tremendous amount of care. We work directly with artisans who live in Uzbekistan. All materials used for production of our fabrics are sourced locally in Uzbekistan.
Our focus is on Uzbek ikat fabric for sale to retail customers. Although we don’t carry large quantities of fabrics to accommodate wholesale orders, we do offer discounts on larger orders. In addition to fabric for sale we offer other ikat related products such as cushions, quilts, ikat pillow covers and silk scarves. We also feature some vintage Soviet ikat porcelain.
In addition to textiles we feature hand painted jewelry boxes, which are miniature representations of Islamic mosaics and murals in a form of décor items.
We are a small privately owned business
… and are proud of it. In fact, we love being small, flexible and local. This allows us to give enough attention to our customers and we truly appreciate each interaction we have with them. Whether you are in the USA, Netherlands or Japan, we find it thrilling to be able to talk to you and to be a part of the global community.
We are online only business.

We are self sustainable.
Everything you find in our shop, from our Ikat fabrics and Ikat Cotton textiles to our decorative home accessories, is made from locally cultivated silk and cotton by skilled artisans. Very little machinery is involved in the process, preserving the authenticity and craftsmanship that make Uzbek Ikat fabric so special.
We are not about mass production.
Everything we offer is produced in limited quantities. Handmade Ikat fabrics, Ikat pillows, and textile accessories cannot be mass-produced, and that is part of their beauty. Their rarity, authenticity, and lower environmental impact make them products to be treasured, loved, and cared for.
