The ikat fabric used for this cover is made of machine woven cotton / silk blend ikat fabric. The cover closes with an invisible zipper on a side and fits standard 24" (60cm) pillow inserts
"Uzbek SSR" stands for Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic. The fabric is at least 25 years old, we found it in a treasure chest of textiles "for special occasions". Since we believe that every day is a special occasion and should be lived to the fullest, we decided to use the fabric to turn it into an everyday decor item. A few notes about the fabric used to make this pillow cover: this fabric is from the Soviet days when most of the ikat industry of Uzbekistan was industrialized. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, big textile factories lost government funding, closed and smaller artisanal shops opened up. This is why, most of the ikats we see these days are hand-woven and narrow (the width is set by hand looms). This specific fabric is one of the wide ikat fabrics made in the big machinery days.Additional Information
